Rafael Costa was challenged to create a futuristic time machine digital print using only MODO and Photoshop. 'TIME' represents a fictional universe-changing product from the year 2055 that must convince the public that TIME will change their lives.
The Concept

The concept is based on real studies of “time travel” and accelerators of sub-atomic particles that would propel a machine through time. The artist referenced the movies Tron and Oblivion for inspiration as well as the artist Daniel Simon.

Early sketches of the study
After sketching out the concept, Costa illustrated the machine into a more technical and functional concept piece that would serve as a base for the 3D production.
The Production

Using only MODO and Photoshop, Costa began 3D production with modeling, product lighting, texturing and rendering.

Costa began the 3D production by correcting the proportions of the time machine's basic parts such as the wings, propeller and protective cover. The machine was modeled in Modo using 3D mesh, symmetry, abused loops and mirror of meshs.
The focus of the texturing process was to keep a cleaner shade on the outside of the machine. The final Render was done using Modo.

The final image was a clear product design of the futuristic machine with great visualization and subtle details.
