During her three month internship at Snask, a great branding, design & film studio, Annelies got the chance to experiment with different techniques and styles. She ended up making a stop motion film based on a design she made for the Snask column in Computer Art magazine. Besides this being her first stop motion project it was also her first time making papercraft objects.
As the design of the column was papercrafted, it was a logical choice to make the entire animation out of (pink) paper as well. The greatest obstacle for Annelies was making the storyboard. She wanted everything to make sense in a specific way. Annelies knew she wanted to end the film with the column design header she made, which shows 'Show what you do best'. She decided to create 6 different scenes where every word and element from the end composition is created.
The whole stop motion project was shot in 3 days and consisted of about 2000 pictures. A camera mount, Phase One Camera, two lights and Dragonframe stop motion software was used to photograph everything. Adobe Media Encoder was used for transcoding and rendering the video. A combination off Adobe Illustrator, After Effects and Adobe Audition were used during production. Silhouette Studio was used for the design of the paper cut outs.
